As part of BioForMoz’s activities to implement studies for the control of water for human consumption, two researchers from the CNR Water Research Institute of Italy, came on a mission to Maputo on October 20th, to collaborate with the Molecular Toxicology department of the Biotechnology Center: the researchers Dr. Anna Barra Caracciolo and Dr. Paola Grenni.
In addition to collaborating on two ongoing projects: “Assessment of emerging contaminants in the Umbeluzi River: their presence and effects on fish” and “Using biomarkers as a biomonitoring tool for environmental pesticide pollution: case study of the Umbeluzi River”, with laboratory and field activities, two public seminars will be held:
Assessment of the effects of legacy and emerging contaminants in soil and water ecosystems, speaker Dr. Anna Barra Caracciolo;
Application of ecotoxicological tests for evaluating single, mixture and contaminated matrix effects on ecosystems, speaker Dr. Paola Grenni.
The seminars were held at the UEM Complexo Pedagogico on October 26th.
